Comprehensive site protection

OPAL series detectors provide excellent outdoor protection for buildings of various types and intended use. They are also ideal for indoor protection, e.g. in industrial facilities where the environmental conditions are difficult or special (e.g. halls, shelters).

High Grade 3 protection

OPAL Pro meets the Grade 3 standards of EN 50131 and can be used to protect critical infrastructure such as power plants, transformer stations, refineries, security paper companies and mints, banks, archives, weapons depots, government agencies and museums.

Dusk sensor

OPAL Plus and OPAL Pro detect changes in ambient light intensity (twilight, dawn). The built-in dusk sensor enhances the building automation functions. The detectors can be controlled by relays placed in the electrical switchboard or by automation controllers.

Reliable security

Effective detection (15 m operating range)

Detection angle of the OPAL detectors is as wide as 100° and their range exceeds 15 m. The creep zone is also protected, so all attempts to approach and damage or wrest the devices are detected. Additionally the detector software is designed to prevent false alarms triggered by the movement of small pets.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

OPAL series detectors provide stable operation regardless of whether they operate in rain or sunshine, strong wind gusts, very high or low temperatures. This functionality is enabled through the combination of dual technology detection with an algorithm for automatic adaptation to environmental conditions, and automatic compensation for ambient temperature changes. The detectors’ resistance to adverse weather conditions has been proved during long-term tests.

Two-component injection moulding

The detector enclosures are manufactured by two-component injection moulding technology. The combination of polycarbonate and thermoplastic elastomer results in a design with an IP54 protection rating. These enclosures protect the detector electronics against adverse factors, including rain, snow, fog or moisture.

Anti-tampering protection

Regardless of how they are mounted, the OPAL series detectors are always protected against opening and detachment from their mounting surface.

This is achieved by:

two tamper switches on the electronics board
a dedicated tamper contact switch which can be installed in either the ball-joint or distance bracket, or at the back panel (if the angle bracket is used)

Anti-masking protection

The OPAL Pro detector features an active IR anti-masking that detects attempts to paint or varnish the lens or attempts to cover it with various materials of different thickness, texture and colour. The OPAL and OPAL Plus models feature an anti-masking microwave function, allowing them to detect any object moving within close proximity. This successfully prevents any attempts to cover the detectors.

Remote sensitivity configuration

To help installers, the OPAL Plus and OPAL Pro models allow to remotely adjust the sensitivity of all their sensors, including dusk-sensors, using the OPT-1 infrared keyfob. Detector adjustment is very easy, and there is no need to repeatedly open the detector enclosures to change the settings.

Wiring

In the case of outdoor devices, it’s critically important to guarantee their safe and reliable operation. The OPAL mounting brackets are designed to allow the wiring connecting the devices to control panels to be placed inside. This results in both system security and aesthetic appearance.

Protective hood

If the detector needs to be additionally protected against weather or soiling, the protective HOOD C can be used.

Wireless outdoor detectors

Whenever we’re unable to install a wired detector, or when we simply wish to avoid additional wiring work, we can select a wireless equivalent of the OPAL series detectors. The AOD-210 detector, which belongs to the ABAX 2 family, is intended for operation both outside and inside the protected facility which must meet specific environmental conditions (e.g. halls). The detector meets the requirements of the EN 50131 Grade 2 standard (for indoor applications).

Colour-matched to the environment

Two colour versions

OPAL series detectors are available as complete devices in two colour options: white and grey. This provides greater flexibility in matching the device appearance to the installation environment.

A dark grey OPC-3 DG enclosure* is also available as a separate accessory. This is a standalone enclosure designed for transferring the PCB. It is an ideal solution for dark façades and other locations where this colour variant blends in better with the surroundings.

Optimal coverage of the protected area

Cornices, eaves, and other architectural elements can limit a detector’s field of view. With dedicated mounting accessories, obstacles can be avoided to ensure perfect coverage of the protected area – without the risk of blind spots.

BRACKET C

A set of mounting brackets (angle and ball-joint) that allows the detector to be precisely tilted, ensuring the detection area avoids architectural obstacles and accurately covers the protected zone.

BRACKET E

A distance holder that allows the detector to be mounted away from the façade, eliminating obstacles in the field of view and making installation easier – for example, under roof eaves.

Colour compatibility

Mounting accessories for OPAL detectors are also available in colour-matched variants*, ensuring they blend seamlessly with the detector enclosure.

OPAL Pro is an outdoor dual technology motion detector, which is ideally suited for use both outside of the protected building, and in the interiors where difficult or specific environmental conditions prevail (halls, shelters, sheds etc.). The OPAL Pro detector incorporates dual technology motion detection: PIR and MW. It also uses active IR anti-masking (for indoor use). Therefore, the device has a certificate of compliance with the high security requirements specified in EN 50131 for Grade 3: the detector can be used to protect the interiors of medium to high risk premises, like banks, museums, jewelry stores, etc.

The dual technology, in conjunction with the algorithm of detector auto-tuning to the environmental conditions, provides high immunity to false alarms and hence stable operation in harsh weather conditions, such as rain, snow, sunshine and strong gusts of air. The device offers correct performance in a wide range of temperatures from -40°C to + 55°C, the ambient temperature changes being automatically compensated.

Detection angle of the OPAL Pro detector is as wide as 100 degrees and its range exceeds 15 m. The creep zone is also protected, so any intruder's attempt to sneak by under the device to damage or remove it will be detected. Additionally, the detector software is designed so as to prevent false alarms from being triggered by the movement of small pets.

Additionally, the OPAL Pro detector is provided with a dusk sensor for OC output control, which enables it to be used also in alarm systems with home automation without having to install additional dusk detectors. The signal from the low-current output can be sent directly to the relay located in the electrical switchboard or to the home automation controller. The detector can also work in conjunction with the KNX system via an INTEGRA family control panel. Thus, the OPAL Pro functionality makes possible simple and convenient control of roller shutters, building outdoor lighting, garage door or entrance gate etc., while the moment of operation can be selected with the precise sensitivity control.

What greatly facilitates the installer's work is the function of remote change of the sensitivity of all detection circuits and dusk sensor with the OPT-1 keyfob, without having to re-open the detector enclosure many times to change the settings.

What is also unique is the device enclosure, which is made using the two-component injection molding technology. The thus received splash-proof, IP54 rated design protects the OPAL Pro electronics against harmful atmospheric phenomena. In addition, the detector enclosure has high mechanical strength and is resistant to UV radiation. For additional protection of the device against atmospheric precipitation and fouling, you can install the HOOD C (white) or HOOD C GY (gray) protective cover on the detector enclosure.

The OPAL Pro detector is designed for mounting directly on a flat surface. If the detector is to be turned vertically or tilted horizontally, you can use special angle-type or ball-joint type brackets from the BRACKET C GY set, and also from the BRACKET E GY set.

To increase the detector's distance from the wall, even by over a dozen centimeters, it is necessary to use the BRACKET E modular set.

The OPAL Pro detectors are available in two color versions: white (OPAL Pro) and gray (OPAL Pro GY).
