IVORY Mirror Optics

Design and engineering work continually conducted by SATEL to meet requirements of the market has resulted in development of a number of new additions to our current offer of motion detectors. One of such novelties is the IVORY detector – a new step in the motion detection. Constructionally, it is based on solutions known from the GRAPHITE detector, but the essential difference is application of an optical system with a precision segment mirror instead of the formerly used Fresnel lenses.

This change has made it possible to achieve two important advantages: a higher level of the signal reaching the pyroelectric element, due to improved efficiency of the mirror in focusing energy, as well as a greater freedom in precise spatial layout of the detection zones. In terms of performance parameters, the IVORY detector features enhanced efficiency detection while retaining the same immunity to false alarms and – owing to  a more favorable distribution of beams – lower sensitivity to any changes in interior arrangement in the room where it is installed. Additionally, the detector has been fitted with a direct access zone section, which opens quite new possibilities for its application, including detection of people passing directly under the device.

The mirror, being a most vital structural element of the IVORY detector, was developed by SATEL in cooperation with a Japanese company dealing with design and manufacture of optical systems. The joint venture made it possible to combine experience in  design and engineering of motion detectors with precision and advanced modeling necessary for development of this type of solutions. The results of tests carried out with the use of the new construction mirror have confirmed validity of the design assumptions, ensuring a very good field of view and high signal level.

Signal processing by the IVORY detector makes use of the same well-proven technology which was developed when designing the GRAPHITE detector. As a result, the  IVORY features the same very good immunity to false alarms, while ensuring  even better efficiency in intruder detection. As a matter of course, the new device is also provided with such features as alarm memory and remote indicator LED switch-on to facilitate diagnostics of the system. All this makes the IVORY detector an ideal solution wherever top-class PIR motion detectors are to be used.
