Cooperation between SATEL and GUT

The agreement between the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering of the Gdansk University of Technology and the SATEL Company on cooperation in the education of youth, signed on 20th May 2008 at SATEL's Head Office, has been crowned with success. On 18th November 2008, opening of the Laboratory of SATEL Alarm Systems was celebrated at the GUT Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering. The laboratory, fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, will be used by the 1st to 5th year students of Automation and Robotics and the 3rd, 4th and 5th year students of Electrical Engineering.

During the official part of the ceremony the floor was taken by His Magnificence, Rector of the Gdansk University of Technology Prof. Henryk Krawczyk, PhD (Eng), Dean of GUT Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering Prof. Kazimierz Jakubiuk, PhD (Eng), and SATEL's Co-Owner Ireneusz Kowaluk, Member of the Management Board.

The classes will begin on 27th November 2008 with a lecture on the Alarm Systems. From next year, the 3rd year students of Electrical Engineering will use the Laboratory as part of their compulsory subjects. For the students of all years of Control Engineering, courses in security devices will be organized. In two years' time, a new "Security Technologies and Systems" interfaculty course of Master studies will be established. Within this field of studies, the "Industrial and Energy Security" specialty will be run by the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering.

In Pomerania, the secondary school students who are interested in the Alarm Systems can start getting the knowledge at the Group of Communications Schools in Gdansk, where two SATEL equipped labs are already being successfully operated, and continue their studies at the Gdansk University of Technology.

Currently, the SATEL Company is cooperating with 4 secondary schools and 3 higher education schools. These activities include i.a. fitting the labs with equipment necessary to run the Alarm Systems classes, training the secondary/higher school staff as well as providing constant support by SATEL.
