Competition at School Year's End.

Cooperation between SATEL and the Secondary Technical School of Communication continues to develop, generating over and over new activities. On 5th June 2009, we had the pleasure to host at our Company's Head Office the final competition organized by the Secondary Technical School of Communication. The event was meant to sum up the knowledge the students acquired during the school year just ending.

Admitted to participation in the competition were the students who, within the framework of curriculum, attended classes at Satel's Laboratory situated on the premises of the Gdansk Technical School. Elimination rounds were carried out by the teachers and 3 two-person teams were selected. At 11:00 AM the combat between the teams began and lasted almost 2 hours. The contestants were to perform 3 tasks, based on the latest product from SATEL, which is the VERSA control panels.

The first task the contestants were to do was to appropriately start the security alarm system composed of the VERSA 15 control panel and expansion modules. The jury verified suitability of the cable connection and correct identification of devices in the system. In the second task, the participants were required to assign hard-wired devices to the ACU-100 controller, turn on the INT-RX controller key fobs and connect the hard-wired devices to expansion modules. The task consisted in connecting the wired devices and carrying out correct identification of the wireless devices. Control panel zones were to be used for the wireless and hard-wired devices. In the last task, the contestants had to make use of the functionality of the previously built system. Additionally, a bulb indicating the output status was to be connected to the INT-ORS expander and a table lamp was to be connected to the ASW-100 controller.

The contenders were required to program the control panel so as to trigger some functions for the selected devices, namely:

to light the lamp connected to the INT-ORS expander by quick control
to light the lamp connected to the ASW-100 controller by pressing key fob button
the AQUA Luna detector should light up on arming the system
to arm the system by means of key shortcuts to disarm the system by means of key fob

The Jury, School Managers, Teachers and spectators were very much impressed by the knowledge and skills of the contestants. They quite easily handled the tasks prepared for them and it was unknown to the very end which team will win the title.
